    Description

    Italy Occupation LIBIA Libya
1927- 37  Cent 10 MNH SEGNATASSE Postage Due Stamps
Sassone 14 - bottom 3 unattached center perfs.
The history of Libya as an Italian colony began in the 1910s and lasted until February 1947.
The Ottoman sultan ceded Libya to Italy by signing the 1912 Treaty of Lausanne.
In 1929, Tripoli and Cyrenaica were united  as one colonial province.
In 1934 the classical name "Libya" was revived as the official name of the colony.
    Italo Balbo,
the a Governor of Italian Libya, is considered by some Italian historians to be the
    Father of modern Libya.
He promoted the colonization of Libya by Italians.
In less than thirty years (1911–1941) Italy built huge public works, allowing the Libyan economy to flourish to a level unseen since the time of the Roman Empire.
After the end of WW 2 Italy began its withdrawal from North Africa and Libya experienced the beginning of the worldwide process of decolonization that characterized colonies of Europe in the Fifties and Sixties.
